Hi, my name is Shane Barrett and I am a girl dad. I am from Birmingham, AL and a Hoover High School graduate. My college alma mater is UAB which I graduated from in 2017 with a Medical Industrial Distribution degree. My wife, Andrea, and I got married in 2017 and had our first daughter, Alice Collier, in 2018. She was followed by Charlotte in 2019. In 2020, we moved to Greenville, SC for my job that never went back into the office. We lived there for 4 years and added two more daughters. Holland joined the party in 2023 and has been nothing but a spitfire since. Finally, we added Ruby in 2024 and shortly after moved back to Alabama, so that I could accept a promotion in Tuscaloosa.
I have pretty much always had a side hustle. I have always loved connecting with people and talking with people, so Uber gave me another way to do that. During my time driving I have talked to many college women who have stories of getting in Ubers and not knowing if they were going to make it home or feeling extremely unsafe. Many of them mentioned calling their mom or their boyfriend as soon as they get in the car, so that someone knows their whereabouts on the ride.
This is where the idea of Girl Dad Inc. was born.
